The hotel opened on September 25, 1962 as the 2,000 room Americana Hotel. Itwas constructed by brothers Laurence Tisch and Preston Tisch co owners of the Loews Corporation and was thr first over 1,000 room hotel to be built in New York since the Waldorf Astoria in 1931. With 51 floors reaching up to 152.7 m (501 ft) it was acclaimed for many years in its advertising and by the media as the tallest hotel in the world based on the number and height of its inhabited floors (though the spire of the 1957 Hotel Ukraina in Moscow was taller). The Americana was built along with the New York Hilton facing Sixth Avenue on the next block to serve the huge number of tourists that the 1964 New York Worlds Fair would bring as well as the business and convention market.

The architect Morris Lapidus was the original designer of both but new owners of the Hilton Project objected and Lapidus chose to resign. The hotel was also known variously as the Americana Hotel Americana NEw York and Loews Americana of New York.

Design: The hotel was built with a two story podium originally containing the lobby five restaurants ten ballrooms and a large convention hall and an acre of kitchens with the hotel rooms in narrow slabs above. To achieve this Lapidus employed three structural systems Floors 1 through 5 are steel concrete composite columns floors 5 through 29 are concrete shear walls and 29 to 51 reinforced concrete columns. At the time of its completion the building was the tallest concrete framed structure in the city. The main block of accommodation is a tall thin bent slab form angled towards the 52nd Street corner emphasized by the horizontal striped facade of strip windows and yellow glazed brick spandrels. On the north side facing Sixth Avenue a lower 25 story wing is placed at right angles to the street and inclides the entrance and lobby in a two story podium.

Popular Hotel The Roosevelt, Manhattan

The Roosevelt hotel opened on September 23, 1924 was built by Niagara Falls businessman Frank A Dudley and operated by the architecture firm George B Post and Son and leased from The New York State Realty and Terminal Company a division of the New York Central Railroad. The hotel built at a cost of $12,000,000 ( equivalent to $175,433,000 in 2018) was the first to incorporate store fronts instead of lounges in its sidewalk facades due to the Prohibition era. The Roosevelt Hotel was at one time linked with Grand Central Terminal by way of an underground passage that connected the hotel to the train terminal.

The Roosevelt housed the first guest pet facility and child care service in The Teddy Bear Room and had the first in house doctor. Conrad Hilton purchased the Roosevelt in 1943 calling her a fine hotel with grand spaces and even though he eventually owned many other hotels in New York including The Plaza and The Waldorf Astoria he chose the home. In 1947 the Roosevelt became the first hotel to have a television set in every room. There are a total of 1,025 rooms in the hotel including 52 suites. The 3,900 square foot (360 m2) Presidential Suite has four bedrooms a kitchen formal living and dining areas and a wrap around terrace. The rooms are traditionally decorated with mahogany wood furniture and light colored bed coverings.

Throughout the 1940s and 1950s the hotel was among New York's most fashionable. The future of the hotel and especially the base building are uncertain plans to rebuild Alexanderplatz drawn up in the early 1990s envisage demolition of the hotel or at a minimum of the base building to enable erection of three new high rises. The complex was built from 1967 to 1970 in the course of the redevelopment of Alexanderplatz when it was located in East Berlin. It was designed by the team of Roland Korn Heinz Scharlipp and Hans Erich Bogatzky. However the design as built differs in the shape and location of the tower on the lot from that envisaged in the 1964 plan for redevelopment of the square.

The hotel owned the property immediately west of it which was the site of the Adelphi Theatre where episodes of The Honeymooners were filmed.

Famous Universal Parks and Resorts, Florida

Volcano Bay is 27 acre water theme park that opened in 2016. It replaced Wet and Wild owned by Universal sa the resort's water park. Wet and Wild was founded in 1977 by Seaworld founder George Millay as one of the first major water parks. In 1998 Wet and Wild was acquired by Universal Parks and  resorts adding it to Universal Orlando. There were eighteen water silides and attractions at the water park. Popular attractions included The Storm Bomb Bay Disco H20 Mach 5 and The Surge. Wet and Wild was located at the intersection of International Drive and Universal Boulevard about half a mile south of the Universal Orlando parking garage. Wet and Wild officially closed on December 31, 2016 due to the opening of Volcano Bay. It was announced on March 21, 2017 that the land once occupied by Wet and Wild would be transformed into Universal's seventh hotel. It was later learned that Universal would split the property into two hotels rather than one resort.

The Volcano closed for a second and more elaborate renovation in February 2008 and reopened on December 8, 2008.

Caesars Palace was established in 1966 by Jay Sarno who sought to create an opulent facility that gave guests a sense of life during the Roman Empire. It contains many statues columns and iconography typical of Hollywood Roman period productions including a 20 - foot (6.1 m) statue of Augustus Caesar near the entrance. Caesars Palace is now owned by Vici Properties and operated by Caesars Entertainment. Lake Buena Vista is a small body of water located east of the Buena Vista Golf Course west of the crossing of State Road 535 and Interstate 4. The lake which was called Blake Lake before its acquisition by Disney was named for Buena Vista Street in Burbank California where Disney's corporate headquarters are located. Several Walt Disney Company business entities had names containing Buena Vista a Spanish phrase that means good view. In 2015 guide maps for the Disney Springs shopping dining and entertainment district started promoting Village Lake which the district and Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa borders as Lake Buena Vista. Both the actual lake and the promoted lake are connected via a stream which is crossed by a bridge linking Disney Springs Marketplace area with Saratoga Springs Resort.
